Labour prices

How much would your average workshop cost to do an engine swap?
I've got a fair idea, but I wana know if anyone's been to places that did a good deal etc

If you have the engine, and all related pieces and can get the car to them with the previous engine removed, alot will charge close to 1-2k for labour AFAIK

if its just a basic swap, no other gremlims hidden in the works
$500-$1500

depends how slow the monkey is and if he knows what hes doing.

You're not planning on putting an RB26DETT in your Skyline, are you?

Talk to advanced automotive on the shore. They specialize in skylines and XS1V works there (from the forums)

Last time I went there they had about 4 skylines in the garage. THe owner races skylines too.

They seem like they know there shizizzle

its so easy to put motors into skylines a person with little knowlege could do in its wiring it up which gets u thinking. would remove motor and box, and fit at the same time, its say 50bolts or so,

If you are just swapping your motor with an RB25 then it's a pretty straightforward swap.

Very easily done yourself or with a mate that's done an engine swap before...

Nah, not RB. I'll need custom mounts, so that's more money to add

So what exactly are you trying to put in?

If it's not going to be a straight engine swap then of course prices are going to vary hugely. Especially if you are transplanting with a completely different engine. (eg. One that did not come in that chassis from factory.)

Give more detail for example what kind of engine you want to put in and what other custom work will need to be done?

VH41DE(Nissan Cima V8 ). They are going for reasonable money, it's just the labour cost i'm worried about

May I ask why you want to fit that instead of a RB?

Well, I'm an NA guy, I love turbo's and all, but I just love big displacement NA.
RB26 would be awesome, and probably cheaper, I guess i'll weigh my options

My old mans rally car has the same motor, bloody awsome engine.
They're about the same size as the toyota V8 (slightly wider), I would think that it would fit into a skyline reasonably easy.
(That is, easy when compared to my dads datsun sunny)

Manual or auto?? the cima autos are f@#$ing massive and I doubt it would fit. We made a custon belhousing/flywheel to fit a supra box.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind that aye, I'd love to do all the work on my car.
How would I go about the mounts? Do I just get them custom made and put in, but I do the rest?
