They want you to put the GPS reciever in plain sight under a window in your car. If a theif gets into your car and sees the reciever, you'd better believe hes going to beat the shit out of it or cut the cable.

There must be better GPS units out there..

GPS works best if the reciever is in plain sight, you could hide it but you'd greatly diminish the strength of the signal.

GPS Receiver is 40mm x 40mm. It can be hidden under plastic, carpet etc..(under dash, rear parcel tray) just not under steel. It is super sensitive, and the highest quality used. The entire unit is designed for covert installations.

Considering it has text messaging integration, I wouldn't be suprised if it supported GPRS (General Packet Radio Service, AKA GSM Data).

The easiest way to set up a wide-ranging tracking system in New Zealand is to use GSM modems connected to GPSs because Vodafone have already done the job of building a network of antennas for you. Telecom use proprietory CDMA crap, so it wouldn't be easy to build a complete unit using the 027 network.

My friends dad has one in his company car. He has the rear window completely tinted out and it sits beside the rear windscreen wiper motor, so that it looks like part of the system. He works all around auckland commonly parking in those "no go zones" that we wouldnt even think about leaving a paddock car in And not to mention the car is a 40k+ Ford.

Its been stolen once and within a few hours the car was found.

I heard that all the theaf has to do is park in a metal container or a parking building and they dont work is this true.

We offer real time tracking, so if your vehicle is stolen and the thief drives it home, to a chop shop or for a joy ride we have the journey 'recorded'. If they take it home and put in in a container, you will see arrows on the map up to his driveway. They can then find and disable the unit, but its too late. Real time tracking updates every 200 metres the vehicle travels and every stop point, and is updated to our servers instantly via GPRS.

What if the thieves stole the car by driving it into a tinfoil lined fully enclosed car trailer and drove off? What happens then? Or if they constructed a Faraday Cage? (are they that smart?)

ha.... obviously theres ways around everything, ie steal a space shuttle and move the vehicle to the other side of the world above the satalites etc. But really, not many thieves stealing 'normal' cars go to extreemes to do it. Most cars are 'hotwired', towed or stolen with keys taken from inside your house. There is generally no time to cover the car in tin foil etc, so a large percentage of the time your car will be tracked and then recovered.

my trucks got GPS tracking by minorplanat and my boss can see where i am all the time. the reciver/ sending thing just looks like a normal cb anntener

You can TXT it to ask it where it is at any time, and it will respond with a street address including the house number

so the system knows the house number of every house through-out the country? without any extra programming required after purchase?
