Brake problem URGENT

Postby Pelo » Wed Apr 26, 2006 10:23 pm

I have a horrible dragging brake problem, the left front caliper bracket grinds on the inner side of the disc, causing insane brake shudder and horrible noises around corners. The dust sheild also rubs slightly on the inner rim of the disc.
I have just fitted a new bracket, new pads and a new disc hoping to fix the problem, and it is still there :x It originally started because the old owner (ninny! no longer my mate) drove the car with no brake pads because the caliper was seized!!!
It eventually ground about five mm from the bracket and the disc.
This is pic of the new parts after fitting and less than 1km of testing around the block:

What could be causing this? Seized caliper? Bent hub? Wheel bearing??? I am supposed to be racing monday but if I can't fix this I won't be :(

could be all of the above. Dust shield can be easily bent, so just bend it away for clearance. To start with on the caliper, have you tested it to see if it is working. you say you changed the bracket- does this include the caliper? as they do sieze from time to time, and by the sounds of how it was treated before you, it may be the case.
Cant believe im still a member here.
