Need to win in my wagon!

Postby [A NINJA] » Thu Apr 27, 2006 7:37 pm

Hello!

I have been challeged for a drag at ruapuna and I pretty much need to beat 16.1

What I have got
97 carib 6spd blacktop 4a-ge
17" wheels with 205 dirreza's
stainless steel extracters 4-1
AE111 HKS pod filter
upgraded engine earths to 8g wire

What im thinking of doing......

cold air box
heat wrap the extracters
new good quiality leads
TRD head gasket (raise compression? (price anyone?))

Im trying to do this on the cheaply as I need money else where atm but I want to win this race by much as possible! Have I missed anything or is there better mods to do?

surely your sounds will be heavy, the wheel, it also depends were and under what conditions you race. in some racing they dont allow you to remove some items, however do not ask me about that as i have no idea.

Put some stock sized wheels on it with good tyres, take all the bullshit sounds out, mainly just heavy shit i.e subs etc, leave seats etc in, dont bother heat wrapping or modding the engine. Just dont drive like a girl, have a bit of a practice on your launch youll beat that time with ease.

Ah but you should know, fronts are more important than your sub.

anyway, back to the topic.

mycoolcar you are a moron, keep it to the topic ffs.

With my little knowledge of this sort of carry on but from my experience I agree with Jebus about the wheels and the launch. When I had my Trueno, changing the wheels made a huge difference and watching and learning how to launch from sitting in Matt Dunns car I improved on my times over a day. It wasn't drag racing but the same principal should apply anyway.

Hmmmm so like it would be good to steal some 15" light wheels with some micky thompsons? lol! but yeah I have had my eye on some 15" konig lightweight wheels they weigh 4.6kg each without tyres....

what about 15" with good grip and my 17" on the back ( I might be able to borrow some rays 15" wheels for only the front!)

so dont worry about the mods..... what about the head gasket for higher comp?

ive always thought standard wheel size is best, why else would they put them on factory, you have to laugh when you see a evo or wrx on 19's or 20's, 16" is perfect size for 4x4 plus there standard wheels arnt bad!

just put your standard wheels on, remove excess weight, i.e. not factory(subs etc) and give it the raping, should easily get 15's

Factory wheels are also usually smaller diameter so you get higher revving and more acceleration.

Would it be cheaper to get the current cams reground? Just a thought. That might not even work though.
