U will find that alot of toyota engines have strong enough bottom ends to take a few pounds. Some even have factory low compression!!!

Will the wonders of my mind ever be exhausted?

well, yeah... it'll be "blown"

cozmoid wrote:Wonder who mighta given you that idea! wink wink wink

ummm, yeah well actually it wasn't you guys who pointed it out first, but if it makes you feel better, "sure, it was you, thanks for that".

details here...
http://www.blitz-performance.com/Blitz_Comp_Celica.htm
Just try not to look at the price too long, it is large enough to make babies cry...and yes I know thats a celica, they make it for my car too.

my other option was for turbo(plenty of options out there, slightly cheaper too), but from all my reading playing in the top of the rev range too much has a tendency to bend valves in these things.

Steelo wrote:Its about time Dave, we all knew it was coming

yeah, and it even passes with a good WAR aswell, as she doesnt look in the engine bay.

The only thing I may have to explain is the big fsck-off front mount intercooler. but I guess I could have that sprayed black so that it is "less blingy, more stealthy"

heres a video or two of celicas with them... the sound is insane.

http://dave.net.nz/HTMLobj-262/sc_driveby.mov

http://dave.net.nz/HTMLobj-263/VoodooGTS_BlitzVideo.wmv

here is another video, this is one with the same kit I have ordered...
WAR will suffer due to that wonderful noise that it gives off.

Another problem being that they wont ship until I pay half of the kit off as they ahve a tendency to be written off prior to paying it off, and then disappearing, so about a year off and it'll be shipped.

Half of a $8200NZD kit takes how long to pay off? "it wont happen over night, but it will happen"

racing is bad mmmm-kay

the runX will be out on the track a bit more shortly, once I get a few things sorted, the SC is going to take a while to get, the NZ dealer reckons he's sold 3 of them in the last year, 3... where to, and why have I not heard about them.

Awesome stuff
Should be wicked...
man the price makes my eyes water

Im surprised noone has come out with the "S/C suck!! turbo it aue!" comments. Maybe maturity grows here finally.
Superchargers seem to be a fairly rare was of getting more power these days. Its nice to be a little bit different.

The turbo SC thing has been going through my mind for a while, either way it seems to be a kick arse thing to do to these cars, although the Turbo seems to be the more popular as it is "easier", and cheaper...

All the dyno sheets I've seen for turbo and SC'd 2zz showed pretty much the same thing, for bigger numbers, go the Turbo route, for a more drivable car, go the SC route.

The Turbos just seem to exagerate the cars current charactoristics, making the bottom end of the rev range useless instead of fine, and making the top end ballistic instead of just nutty fun, wereas the SC seems to basically just lift the whole torque curve up by about 40%, and HP curve about 30%

This isn't a decision I have come to lightly, it's bloody expensive, and a big mission, but what I should have at the end of it is a nice car thats quick as hell, and sounds like a b|tch, and drives like a mad one.

no offence man.. but i've seen cars turboed for $500

i can't see spending $8000 as worth it

hell $8000 worth of turbo would make this thing nuts

infact, you could rebuild the engine with lower compression etc. to suit a turbo, then turb it.. for less than 8000

and if you want nice drivability, you could spend about half of what you are spending and get a wee turbo for it (and still rebuild the engine)

but shit its still gonna be freakin cool, full credit, wish i had the money to do shit like that hahahaha

$500... ummm, all second hand at a guess, if you go new you'd have to do atleast the following.
Turbo(GT25 or 28 ) ~$2k
Custom header ~500
piping and IC ~500
ECU replacement ~1500
Tune ~500

$5k and thats without even thinking about it carefully.

yes it could be re-worked with lower compression, but well, thats not going to overly help, the 2zz doesn't like anymore than about 10PSI before they start throwing pistons through blocks sideways.

will it worth it? dunno... time will tell, I'm still going to do it, it's only money after all, and it's my money, so who gives a flying rats arse what you(not you directly, you as a generalised term) think... :)

*edit* I guess by posting here I give a rats arse... ahh well, sh|t happens

That would be because of the high compression....
