Lets discuss my nuts and other sexual connotations!Wheel nut

I have bigger than average studs on my front wheels, my nuts are small though so that without a spacer they screw all the way in and then stop and the wheel is really loose My question is how can I get around this? Is it possible to cut the ends off the nuts so that the end of the studs poke through? I am just wondering because I picked up some good fitting RWD Offset wheels and am putting them on.

Why not get a set of new studs which will be the correct length rather than trying to bodge it

Machine the back off your wheel nuts so the stud can come out the back. (That is assuming the wheel nuts are the correct ones for the wheels)

Or as said, go buy new nuts and/or studs.

Yeah, new studs are all of $4 each or something ridiculous. You dont want to take chances on the track.

Anyway, I am not trying to bodge it, its a perfectly accepted thing to do, Theres a person down here thats been racing for a long time. He has a 13B in an escort that is bloody fast and I learnt today that his back studs are like mine and Hilux ones and guess what he does, he drills the ends out of his wheel nuts to make the ends of the studs poke out. Its kiwi ingenuity, hes had the studs that size for many many years and he has never had a problem with the nuts or anything. Larger studs is actually somewhat of an advantage when it comes to fitting many types of wheels as well. So no, I wont be getting a set of new studs.

I have a range of wheel nuts for my corollas, some have an end cap and some are open. I would recommend looking for some with no end cap first, as drilling and/or grinding may damage the nut a bit.
I would definitly leave the long studs in though, you may need long studs in the future, and it s a real pain when they are too short

Cheers man, it was good to see a post from someone who knows what they are talking about. Will look for some open ended nuts then. Cheers
