Dashboard Lights (what does it mean?)

Postby Shady_Dan » Fri Apr 28, 2006 9:39 pm

I know im gonna get flamed for asking this, (mainly because the car im asking about this for isnt a toyota, ive had to go to the dark side and buy a mitsubishi galant, because its a "Family car" 8O )

I have an orange light come up on the dashboard and im not 100% sure what it relates to. Ive tried googling it on the net to try and find something to give me details on what the dashboard set ups are on these but with no luck.

The particular light in question is above the fuel gauge beside the engine check light. The picture on the light is of a car with squiggly lines coming off it. I originally thought it might be traction control, but as the car doesnt come with it, its not that (brainiac that i am discovered that all by my lonesome). Car in question is a NZ New 1994 mitsubishi galant SEI A Liftback.

As i said at the start I know this is not relating to a toyota, and i expect all the shit i get for posting my question here, but alot of you guys know more than I do on different makes of cars, and have summised that someone out there my know what this is.

Cheers in advance.

If its what I think it is it would be the brake light sensor. Lets you know if you have blown a bulb.

My Cordia had same light as you explain and thats a mitsi as well.

It means the cars about to blow up and you have to sell it and buy a toyota "family" car instead

the light

Postby shaggz » Sat Apr 29, 2006 8:21 pm

im stabbing in the dark but could it be anything to do with the exhaust system ie cat converter??? as i said im guessing, either that or it lights up to let yuo know your afterburners are working fine, there a common feature on a lot of imported japa's, work much better than turbo's or nos hehe
drive it till it breaks, then upgrade it

It means either:

a) your brake fluid is low (check it)
b) a brake light is blown
c) ABS fault

You know there are forums dedicated to Mitsubishis right? It's http://forums.nzmmc.co.nz/ if you didn't know already. There's lots of people on there who are clued up with their Galants (alot have helped me out with my Galant).

Cheers for that guys, now that i know what it is i can attend to it.

Fuel, yeah i knew that there was a mitsi forum, but i couldnt be arsed joining up with them, and i prefer the company of toyota owners still

It was just easier for me to ask on here because i was already registered.

It's like you said only i'm not stabbing in the dark, is either cat converter or lights, lights are easy to check you just walk around the car then get someone to put there foot on the brakes for you. Didn't realise mitsi's had a thing for lights tho so i'm going with the cat
