Postby bluemaumau » Fri May 05, 2006 4:56 pm

just put the 4agze back together.

however the belt on that runs the s/c>tensioner>crank>water pump>s/c

is really really loose. like its hanging from all the pulleys.

strange thing is i havnt adjusted anything.

im using the same belt that was already on the engine

(as mine is 3 weeks ex jappaland)

so wtf!

why is this and how do i fix

cheers

You haven't somehow put the wrong idler pulley on have you? like maybe the swapped the idler pulley from the P/S and Alt belt onto that side of the engine have you?

What parts have been changed?

does this pic help with belt layout ? (wont post pic as its rather large)

http://www.billzilla.org/4agonground.jpg

the CAM belt tensioner will take the slack up for you as its controled by the sping attached to it

as for the other belt you can adjust the tightness by swinging off a long bar acting as a leaver off the alternator, sure you want it tight but not to the point where you are almost snapping the belt.
