twin td04's on a 1ggte?

Postby YeMs » Wed May 10, 2006 10:15 pm

hey im in the market for sum turbo's for my 1ggte (due to them leaking abit of oil and smoking.. really badly). i have come accross a bolt on kit for a 1ggte using twin td04 turbo's. im getting some pictures of it to see how it works. he said it uses the factory manifold and adapters. my question is would they spool and boost well on a 1g?

my other options are to:
*rekit the factory turbo's and hope they hold up
*have an after market manifold built (or build 1 myself) and purchase a second hand t3/ct26/vg30 turbo
*have an after market manifold built (or build 1 myself) and purchase an aftermarket turbo

keeping in mind im looking for the cheapest option that will work sufficient enough to sell the vehicle. the kit i can get my hands on with the twin tdo4s is $1100 and has all the oil lines, with a custom intake pipe with 2 extra injectors, custom dump pipes blah blah. value for money it seems to be the go.

a custom exhaust, iv been quoted around $650. then turbo can ba any were from $200 upwards. then u have dump pipe, oil return, oil feed yada yada yada.

any one care to post their opinion?

you probably need to go in to a little more detail as what you want the car to perform like.. personally i'd stay away from any twin setup and look at building a manifold to take a turbo of your choice be it a tdo5 or a t3 or ct26 it is up to your budget. I have a single high mount turbo on a 1'' steam tube manifold running a t3/t4 with a super t60 trim compressor wheel. It's perfectly driveable even in a very lightweight car. so really it comes down to weather you want a cruser or a 300kw fire breathing monster.. just stay well away from those stock turbos if you want to run anything more than standard boost.
