Cleaning up cams.

Postby Jebus » Mon May 15, 2006 11:43 am

Got some blue top cams, theyre out a gunked up motor and just wanna clean them up like new before I put them in, what can/cant I do to get them clean and shiny.

I have degreaded them, and wiped them down and buffed with a wire wheel real lightly the rough casting between the lobes, so can i go over the lobes lightly with the wire wheel on the bench grinder??

I would not go with wire wheel over the lobes, but I have noticed that spray on paint stripper removes sludge really well...

CRC Clean-r-Carb is the stuff you want, dissolves all that gunk like you wouldn't beleive. either that or just scrape the worst of it off and put it in ya motor and run a decent brand oil and change it regularly. after 3 or 4 changes that gunge will have come right off.
