Too true :) Looks like im going to have to do some proper training. Its not really something you anticipate, and perhaps there should be more compulsory training in the licence process.


come along to an autocroos or motorkhana event at Levin (grass) or Trentham (Tarmac) usually once a month theres one, you will learn car control much goodness :wink:

Sometimes conditions do just bite you in the arse sometimes though. I arsed off a scooter and shredded my arm when I hit some gravel I wasn't expecting.

Yeah, an autocross would probably be the best way to experiment with this. Motorkhana is probably too low speed.

Next one is last Sunday of June, if you want to come along.

Thank god i learnt my leason at 15 rather than 19... when your younger you cant afford a powerful car for a good reason. The rolla would have left me dead in the same situation.

not that it matters now, but tyre shops always say you should have the better tread on the rear of a car, whether fwd, rwd or whatever. Might have helped in this situation.

we were told to have the better tread on the front because they are the wheels that do the steering and the majority of the braking

I guess people have more control loosing the front than the back spinning out though. We are assuming all tread is legal all round of corse also. but yeah, I understand what you are saying. more than one tyre person has had the convo with me over the years though...meh!?

Thats what some mates said to me too :P Im a poor student though, i cant be expected to buy 4 tyres at once :twisted:

in all defence for FXGTV, i was a passenger in his possibly 5 outa 7 days a week since he got it.

i do find it hard to believe that he would have been exceeding 35k, 40 tops as i know hes a careful driver in rough conditions

although some people drive differently when theyre alone, however i still dont think it would have been enough to be 'supppppparrrrrr vtaaaaxxxxxx b000st dr1ftspec!!!!!11' attack of the corner

i think it was your rear tyres,
maybe you need to re-analyse that corner and find a new apex for it for vtaaaaaaaaxing it round lol :)

ps yes guys, im a honda lover :p however i respect all cars for their individuality and technology etc blah.

I'd agree if every FWD car had an LSD. Otherwise, it's drivers use caution with this, sometimes mashing the gas makes it understeer worser.

There are always exceptions to the rule. One should always practice these things under controlled circumstances before one encounters them on the road.

Ive only once had the back of my car swing out (in a FWD) and it was when someone grabbed my handbrake :roll: I really have no idea how some people manage to get into these situations...

Waaaay ahead of ya mate :) I've got a solicitor all lined up...although i want to go Ally McBeal on their asses and represent myself.

I'm putting together a case at the moment, putting the burdon of proof squarely in the hands of the police. They will use all the classic argument to frame me as 'just another young and reckless driver.'

For example, it will be their argument that im young and therefore inexperienced etc etc. Well under our Bill of right its illegal to discriminate because age, race, religion etc, so there goes that argument. Also i've been to the doctor, taken pictures and made sure to keep a record of EVERYTHING just incase the coppers get a little too over zealous when proscecuting me.

Heres hoping all goes well and i get to have some fun in court :)


My advice would be not to try and defend the charge. If you go in there and say i did it, i'm bad, slap my wrists, etc. etc. you will have to pay $200 donation to some charity. If you defend it you will spend a lot more and it will be a major hassle. Court is only set up for guilty people... there is no innocent, only rich people who spend lots on good lawyers.

cars dont make people crash. doesent matter weather its Fwd' Rwd or 4wd its driver error or poor car condition. why blame the road or that particuler corner. if a survey was done starting since that road and particuler corner where made how many cars have gone around it. How many have crashed? i know its impossible to answear but point is why blame the car/corner/ when at the end of the day you stuffed up how you took the corner.

Just got the news, cars a definate write off. Engine mount rooted the gearbox. Well thats what they said anyway. Who knows really :P
