fuel pump mod

Postby bluemaumau » Wed May 17, 2006 8:02 pm

ok so this is a 4afe f. pump housing(guess that what you call it :? )

and a gtz pump

as you can see in the pictures the pump is too big.

Q is which end should i cut a bit off? i would say the pump but it looks like its got something in its outlet.

however if i was to cut the metal lines then it wouldnt have its little lip thingy.

or is there another option.

what do you think

cheers will

note: the pump is not sitting on its little rubber guard which adds another 5 or so mm.

Agree with HRT. Cut the bottom off and hoseclamp onto the bracket.

No not the pipe from the pump. The bottom plate or housing where the pump sits on. Once the pipe is on the pump (main feed) and the clamp is holding the outside of it, its not gonna go anywhere.

or you could use a longer hose and do a loopy S on the thing... jsut make sure it is fuel hose and rated well above pump pressure...

Did the same thing on the starlet when i put a sw20 pump in, just chopped about 10mm off that pipe. Its been in the car about 50,000k now and never had a problem.

i had the same problem when putting a bigger pump in my car, ended up cutting some of the metal pipe off and flaring it out with a screwdriver to make a new lip thing, i also used a big hose clamp to hold the pump onto the pickup. not gonna go anywhere without a lot of help.
