20v gearbox on bluetop???

converting fx to manual jus wondering if the bzg gearbox will be the same as the 1s that where orignally on the manual bluetop

i have put a c52 gear box for a silver top 20v on to a bule tope 4age in an AE82

the bzg levinz have a c56 slightly diffrent ratios but almost the same casing as the silver top 20v(c52 Gear box)



the only diffrance between the early c52 that the bule tops came out with and the later ones from 20v 4age is that the belhousing has a starter mounting at the front and back of the belhousing

this causes a problem on the bule top as the rear starter mounting hits the water pipe going along the back of the head

you will need to get that pipe of a later model 4age
i think the red top on wards has the right pipe

ok i have the whole running gear of a bzg can i take the pipe off the blacktop and how are the ratios better more top end or more acceleration

no they dont have that pipe you need to get one of a redtop

4th gears ratio is slightly higher maybe 3rd as well

not much diffrance at all

dont know if the backing plate for the gear box will fit but it should do

Not necessarily, i've found the main difference is between the nz new bluetop, and the jap spec one..

It will fit, but you wont be able to put all of the bolts back in on the intake side of the bellhousing as 2 or 3 of the holes are different. and the plate wont cover up the entire starter motor bulge in the bellhousing.

Only slightly, but use your existing engine mounts and you will be fine.

Also you will need to change the speedo drive over. As the one in the C56 box will be electronic, and your bluetop one will be cable driven.

well on my bule top in my old ae82 i needed that water pipe to fit a later model c52 with the two starter mounts the 20v goes back in to the head instead of along the back of the head so you cant get it of that



and on my ae101G wagon the top gear box mount on the auto tranny was diffrent and had to be changed to fit the c56 that in now in its place, im sure it will be the same for the older auto tranny

(im so glad the that i got rid if the pile of shit auto the best thing i have done to my car yet ) 0-100km with auto was 11.74 with c56 8.2 ish
