Small Port Head External Oil Drain

Postby jondee86 » Sun May 21, 2006 7:13 pm

To save me having to pull the cam covers off.... does anyone know
for sure if the small port head will work WITHOUT the external drain ??

In other words, does the small port head still have all the usual internal
oil drains that you would find on a Blue Top head ??

Cheers.... jondee86

ive run them without and there is no difference to a bluetop head at frist glance. the drain is just an extra they tapped in there

Thanks. I figured that would be the case, as I have read of
people running the small port head with the drain blocked off.
I guess that is when you put the head on an early block.

I've heard that bluetop heads can fill up with oil due to insufficient drainage. But this only happens under long runs under high rpm. The impression I got was that a long run, really is a l-o-n-g run.
