Injector O-Rings Leaking

Postby jondee86 » Sun May 21, 2006 9:45 pm

Fired up the small port transplant tonight for the first time. Started
and ran fine.... 2200 rpm idle dropping to 1000 rpm when hot. Seems
sweet except that a couple of the injectors are leaking from the O-Rings.

I never had the fuel rail off, but it is about 5 years since the engine
last ran... don't ask... good things take time :P

So, will the O-Rings start sealing again after they have had gas sitting
on them for a while, or do I have to replace them ?? Anyone had this
happen to them ??

Cheers.... jondee86

best practice is to replace them. I doubt they will reseal, and cheap as to renew. dont really want to risk old leaky ones...not with fuel.

OK... sounds reasonable :) Where would you go to get a set of
O-Rings ?? Toyota dealer ?? Repco ??

I went straight to injector specalists up here, not sure down your way. Toyota did sell, but shop around. When I got some last year I paid I think $20 for 6 seal rings and 6 of the rubber spacer washers.

Or try Plastics Engineering ask for viton stuff, about 5 times cheaper and better stuff than genuine.

the mitsubishi orings are orange and a lot fatter than toyota ones. work really well. So go raid from pickapart off the lancers and galants.
