Ferrari F40 & other exotics

Postby SkylineObsession » Tue May 23, 2006 12:40 am

Original topic.

Just wondering where all the exotics are located in Christchurch (bear in mind that we nearly got lost up there a couple of weeks ago and only ever went on about fifteen (rough guess) different roads/streets...) and if you're allowed to take photos of them at all?

I am particulary keen to see any Aston Martins, new (or old) Lamborghini's, Ferrari's, new Porsches (plenty of older ones here), Maserati's, Vipers and any other exotics. Will only have an afternoon to look around, as have to drive back to Dunners the same day/night.

And help/directions would be more than appreciated. Dunedin doesn't have enough fancy cars to mosey at. The Honda S2000 and NSX that were located at Southern Honda seem to have been sold now. :(

The model shop in the middle of town someone mentioned - fizzaz or whatever - has a whole bunch of jags, lotuses (loti?) rolls royces' etc inside. I opened the door and went "whoa". Its like a midgety version of southwards car museum in wellington!

As for where the cars live... Good luck!

I've seen a lambo contach driving round recently (doing a lumbo lap no less  ), if you want porsches... Look up paul kelleys home address in the white pages :? Or just go look at the car yards, there's a few of them round the place, there's a lot of high end euro car lots between the city centre + hospital.

R34 GTR - Bling Bling still have one I think, they did as of last week at least.. Also normally got a mk4 supra, and a whole bunch of weird + wonderful jap cars in there. The bat they had a couple months back was awwwwwesome 8) .

Few months back I came across a convoy (no shit) comprising a couple of porsches, some nice red ferrari thingy, and a whole bunch of things like astons etc, all headed out of town down lincoln road, towards akaroa. Was kinda out of it.

Or just drive round cashmere for ages, bound to spot something.

Gavin Bain of Fazzaz owns one of two Ferrari F40's in New Zealand, its sometimes on display, check the Saturday press because it will be listed in his ad if it is :) He got it from a Swiss guy who traded it and a large sum of money for an old Ferrari racecar Gavin had in possesion. So Fazazz on Litchfield street is a good starter, there are Lotus's and other exotics at Southern Presitge Imports(?) I think thats the name anyway just behind Blenheim Rd, the next one past Matipo St heading south.

You're thinking of Achreon(spelling bad) Drive, its right by the new funky pumpkin.

The guy there is friendly too; we talked to him for a good 30 minutes just about cars.

They have a couple of Lotus's, but mainly 4 door saloon cars, which are still good to look at.

what about 'Upper Classics'? . the classic car display that you see from the southern motorway towards Brougham St?

never been for a look myself, or if you can, but there is some fine looking cars in the window.

The car yard on the corner of Tuam St and Antigua St can't remember the name, mostly does subaru's but when i drove past yesterday there was a Maserati in the window and i think there is a Porsche dealer next door. There was also a NSX at the honda dealer on Montreal St.

I could be wrong but I thought that "Upper Classic's" had closed or something...

I drive passed it every day to and from work, and it looks like most of the cars are gone, and its being used as an office...

can anyone confirm or deny this?

While heading away from the South City Library yesterday, going west along a raised motorway through the city i thought i spotted a double storied building on the right of the motorway which may have said 'Upper Classics' or something, and i think i saw a couple of cars through the window (was dark, as it was after 9:30pm).

But yeah, Fazazz was shut, but still managed to see a couple of nice cars: http://granturismox.net/vb/showthread.php?t=14905

Just thought I'd add to this -

On the way to work this morning I noticed something kinda cool - there is one of those widebody, hatchback mid engined V6 renault thingys (i think its a renault), at the rick armstrong yard at the very far end of moorhouse ave (lincoln road / hagley park end).

My car geek memory fails me for what make of car it is... Whatever it is, its bloody cool and there wasn't many made. I've seen it driving once and the thing sounded coool, now you can have a close up look if curious :)

edit: I'm retarded, you already found it it seems
