One of the best movies ive seen in ages, seen it twice and will definately watch it again sumtime, I liked the part when he was Die casting pistons, that was classic - apparently he made alot of other engine parts aswell. Its a bummer no one has done the John Britten story as a movie, that would be a goody!

I'm most certainly not a Britten fan. It was a large team effort, that Britten often took all the credit for. Have you read the biography?

Munroe made extreme sacrifices for his passion, hence I absolutely loved the movie. I doubt I would live in a garage just so I could afford to run my race vechicle.

I'd have to agree with you in regards to the casting of the piston. Brilliant. You could believe Hopkins had made hundreds. Big smurk with the Titanium quotes.

he may have had alot of help but you must give him all the credit for his design work, i have the video and the book and i still think he deserves more than what he got.


I watched it tonight and loved it, will definately be watching it again

A few of the older generation around here remember him turning up to some of our local car club events when we used to run flying 1/4 miles.

they reckon the film is pretty accurate of the way he was and his attitude.

What struck me about the whole thing tho was how in the movie everyone that he came across he won over and they helped him out!

Honestly if you try and do the same thing as burt monroe did these days with similar money(relative) and similar encounters... You think you would get the same result???
ie actually making it there and being allowed to compete???

I mean you actually think that in todays world that yanks would go out of their way to help you make it??? pfff!

well the world have changed... just compare it to NZ and USA in the movie. Peoples from smaller place are more friendly than peoples from big cities. Today NZ is different from many years back then, but is still alot better than many highly developed countries.
