How much can you fill your tank?

Hey, as a student im tight with money (especially when it comes to petrol)

Im car hunting, wanting a trueno or levin but cant find one, so now looking at some nissans, and will be viewing an R33 GTS25 6 Cylinder, 2.5L

So, seen i havent driven for 6 or so months (or put gas in for that matter) how will fuel prices effect me?

Im use to putting $20 back in the day, which would give me almost half a tank on my 1.6 FXGT

But a 2.5L (auto) 6 cylinder?? Do you think it will chew through the gas as i only earn an average of $120 a week!

dunno how much for the skyline, but my honda, i put 10 bux in and i got from avondale to onehunga, from onehunga all round remuera and then to parnell before i had to put gas in :lol:

It will be a heavier drinker compared to your previous car but by how much exactly I wouldnt know.

One good trick I have found with saving on the fuel front is trying to never let the tank actually get below half full (not easy when a student with limited funds I know) as a fair bit of fuel can be lost through evapration when sloshing around in the tank.

Bit like the coke in a coke bottle really, the less in the bottle the quicker it will go flat

The Skyline will use a fair bit more than your 1600cc car. Bigger engine, heavier car etc. How much more it uses will depend on how you drive it.

If you're running a tight budget, then perhaps you would be better looking at 1600cc or less cars.

My AE92 just took $64 worth of petrol this morning

Last time I filled up there was an R33 6 cyl driver complaining about how much gas cost. Cost him $94 to fill it.

Was at BP so was probably 98 octane.

If you're honestly earning $120 / week, a GTS25 probably isn't the wisest choice of vehicle

Woah, well i use about half a tank a week.. So thats like $46 a week on petrol, which is quite a bit. I dont think i should run it on 91

so i would have to fill it up with 98.

But, im not sure if some cars burn fuel faster than others.. Guess that all depends how heavy my right foot is.

There is this marvelous grade of fuel known only to a few people called 95.

Chances are you'd still be using half a tank a week, but your tank will be bigger :wink:

This total cnut I used to know back a few years ago has a V12. I hate to think what his petrol bill looks like these days. Should be fairly intense in view of petrol consumption of 5km/l careful highway use.

To fill my Terrano is $132. And I unfortunately drain that in about 300km of town bashing. Open road is better, unless I'm towing. The V6 3.3ltr just doesnt drink.. it skulls.

I would suspect any of the straight sixes would be more economic... but not by much.

Now keep in mind mines turbo, but i go through about $100 a week in gas, thats bashing it in town on a saturday night and nannering it to work and back during the week. Around 300kms i think. I fill up every Friday.

gas is a rip off. get a more economic car, it will save you selling your car for a more economic one later. gas is only getting more expensive!

Thats worse than a 35 year old 318ci V8....

It would cost me about $120-130 to fill these days and lasts about 450-500km's.

Mostly open road though.

Fuel over heres cheaper than in NZ

Went to melbourne the other day and filled up for $1.32 a litre, which is $1.58NZD.

$120 bucks to fill my gt4, that lasts about a week and a half, using 98.

Thats "normal" driving. i can prob get about 300 - 400 ks out of it.
