Its' a 2dr KE30, pretty rare, but I recall last time someone tried to sell one on here/trademe, it had a $3500 buynow, and was on there for weeks. Its' an Australian model, I believe. I'd say powered by the mighty 3K, so yes, FR layout, but then again, all Corollas up to 83 were, weren't they?

Acutally, looking at it now, it would appear to have the 'TE' nose, as opposed to the 'KE' nose, maybe 2T powered? But then the intakes in the bonnet aren't in the right place for a 2T.. hmm. One of the random models that fell through the cracks, huh? :)

might be powered by a T series, but if from aussie, more likely to be K series, i think the states also got them, but powered with T series.

yeah, not bad engines, boat anchors though, not quick, but quick enough in a light car. will go forever if treated right.

hard to say how powerful, dont know the mods etc, but not much

A T-series powered 2dr ke30 or whatever the code for t series is, te31 or such. Has the ugly ass american style T series bumpers. Makes the front look decieving. Cool sunroof .

Jeeze. Now I know why I live at oldschool.co.nz. I remember when people at toyspeed liked and knew old cars. Ohwell.
Anyway, these motors are fantastic.
They came about in the early 70's and the first models with dohc and twin side carburetors (these things people used before efi :P) made 110-125 hp (82-93 kW). Thats nearly as much as your fwd starlet 2e's and 4a-fe's :P:P
I can't believe someone asked if it was rwd :'(

haha, yes, I too had to laugh and feel some what sad when i saw this 'is this rwd'... it kills me

anyway, t series.... where to start...... if your poor then sweet, get one. other wise, a 4age is far better. they dont weigh as much as the moon for one.... and more effeciant due to devolpment....

And that pic looks like an american spec model.... Oh yay..... nice and heavy, and down tuned to suit emmsions.....
the best your gonna get here, is a ke30 or ke35. Personally I think the ke35's are a better looking car anyway, pillerless coupes are so sexy

and Mikuni....... there are still a few of us old schoolers on here, but yes, i noticed when I ran the Old school pics thread that lot of people are under educated on the matter.....

OK, turncoats and smart arses.
if it is a TE37, which in theory is the chassis code for a 2T/3T/2TG powered KE35 shape-ish coupe, why has it got vents on the exhaust side??
not wanting to start a scrap, but ALL T-series engines have inlet on other side of car!
without a chassis code, any further arguements as to it model, are pointless!

Te37's are based on KE35 bodies, much like Te27's and Ke25's.

Re. fangsport's earlier comment....

I see that TE37 also has the vents on the LHS.

Looks to me like a KE3x 2dr with a TE37 nose on it, you can see the paint's mismatched to hell on it.

Looking at the wipers it seems to be a LHD.
Can quite read the numberplate to see if the image is reversed (which could help wit the bonnet vent question).
Do they usually have the fuel filler on the left or the right (the one in this pic is one the left)

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

And the angle of the tacho facing the left also suggests that too.
