carib 1800 twin cam vs 1600 blacktop

just a question im thinkin of gettin rid of my gas guzzlin forester and gettin a toyota wagon just want to no what the performance difference is between the 1800 dohc and the 1600 blacktop

I'd take the blacktop hands down. You cant go wrong with a 4age

1800cc Carib would be a 7AFE wouldnt it? In which case, just about any model of 4AGE would be better slight exaggeration, but hey

even old 4ages will. my brothers redtop ae92 easily quicker than his workmates 1800 carib

Workmate has a Carib. Sometimes I wonder if the brake pedal will make it go faster than the gas pedal.

well that answers my question then, ive found a 1998 carib wagon 1800 for sale full kit, lowerd, 17's big bore 88000ks on the clock for $11000 and all the bzt wagons ive found are bog standard same ks and dearer the thing is im past the stage of performance ive had my share of fast cars plus i got a baby aswell so i thought that maybe i go for style this time but i had to ask what they performd like too

The 1800 will be $&#$% loads better around town and on gas though and you can even tow with one.

If your not red lining it all the time a blacktop will be very economical also. Plus it will have that extra grunt when you need it

The 1800 will be a 4WD, which uses more petrol than an equivilent 2WD.
