New car for my Mrs

Postby barryogen » Mon May 29, 2006 9:32 am

Well on Sunday we were bored, so decided to have a read of the paper, and found that Carbase had 5 Altezzas on offer... so we drove on down, and took a nice looking very low Lexus model for a spin, got 500M down the road and turned around, the thing had adjustables and a whole heap of goodies, all set to the worst setting possible, but worst of all was a crunching noise from the engine bay(sounded expensive)... 1 down, 4 to go

the second one was a 3sge powered manual, out of the question for her, auto only.

third was a 1g-fe powered auto, in almost mint condition, barring a minor bumper scratch, and a yellowing of the spot lights.

4th and 5th were 3sge autos.

The 3sge models just sounded strained when compared to the 1g-fe, so, in the end, she got the entry level 6 cylinder IS200.

If anyone cares... it's this one.

Although the 6 cylinder is down by 30kw and 15Nm of torque when compared to the 4, it is so much smoother, might consider getting an altezza in the coming years, probably a 6, and probably for engine conversion :).

We pick it up this arvo, and she said she might even turn up to the meet next month.

I'm pretty keen on the idea of a 2jz-ge Alteza Gita myself, esp. a 4WD one...

I'm yet to see one first hand, but the concept of a 2JZ-GE engine (and to a lesser extent, 4WD) is why I'm keen on it. Heck, if you could get the 2JZ-GE in RWD in a Altezza, without an engine conversion, I'd problably jump at it - an IS300 is a bit too much $$$. Then again, I've not specifically been looking for an IS300...

4 silver ones, and one not yet prepared... we didn't look at it, so it may be orange.

on a sad note, I have two flat tyres... massive screw(head is 14mm across) in one, and nail in the other one, noticed them at lunch and so collected the mrs car from home.

actually to 160ish(on closed road of course  ) it's pretty close, behind, but close, after I hit lift in 4th, I'm away.

btw, you could probably fit more sheep in the RunX than in the Altezza... the seats fold up giving a fairly large "boot", you could even stack them if they were willing.

/me thinks that someone is going to quote the above, and change "stack" to something else.

she had the mag book out prior to picking up the car... it'll have to wait, I'm getting that damn Supercharger before she gets mags.

and yeah, the 19s(?) look very nice, thats my favourite colour for the altezza too... mmm, burned orange kinda colour...(red mica metalic?)

The Allex is the same as the RunX aswell... atleast I can hardly tell the difference... about the only things I've notice have been things like fake chrome on the door handles and back door handle thing. There is an auto Allex at carbase... it's not quite as fun as the manual, but still alright.
