Clutch price inquiry

Postby Vickrin » Mon Jun 05, 2006 11:20 pm

Just a quick question, what sort of clutch u reckon one could get for $1000 ?

Alright guys, I believe I got a bit of an excessive price for a clutch im getting. Got quoted $900 +gst for a custom 5 puck, solid centre clutch and new HD pressure plate for a CA18DET. Sound about right ?

lol,

I'd say you are buying it off someone, who is buying it off someone else,
who bought it off another company,

and they are all making money on it on the way thru.

I got quoted $650 for a full clutch setup.

That's send my flywheel away and machine it to suit,
make a soild or sprung centre 4 puk clutch,
and make a custom made heavy duty pressure plate,
assemble and bench test the clamping pressure etc etc.

I Searched around and managed to get the same setup from a reputable supplier for way less than that too.

I'd say you are getting ripped, or a triple plate clutch.

That's a pretty standard price for a reputable brand clutch for turbo application at today's exchange rate.

I got one for my JZA70 Supra from mvpmotorsports.com.

Was a SPEC Stage 3 - 6 puk kevlar with upgraded plate for $900 to a mates work out the airport.

Places in NZ were asking the same amout and that was with an exchange - NZ is a rip for parts. that and they hear 'supra' and instantly whack on 75% more

Yep, you should be able to get a custom one made up for less than that...as said, just shop around. Some places will be more expensive than others.
