Events will be held all over Wellington.

Another major stumbling block i forsee is the fact that the Nissan Vs Toyota Weekend is scheduled for the following weekend (28th&29th Oct)

Hi Guys,

Megameets are really hard to organise, and from my efforts the first year I think it's fair to say that it is WAY easier to organise them when you are living in the city it is to be held in ...

I had a quick squiz through this post and it sounds like its going back to Wellington - I personally would have loved it to go somewhere different. That was the thought when I put the first one together, to make it fair on everyone. Having now done Wellington, Chch and Aucks maybe Nelson might not be such a bad idea ...

The next thought I had was to change the dates - with petrol prices etc the way that they are, why not look into a time that people are more willing to travel ... aka New Years?

We only made it Labour Weekend because it was the random long weekend I picked - knowing we already had Track Day in June ...

New Years in somewhere like Napier or Gisborne offers heaps of "alternate" entertainment ... and there would be just as many cruises, scavenger hunts etc that we could go on - that wouldn't be a "repeat".

Just some thoughts ... If you do want to head back to Wellington, i'm sure I still have all the brouchures for accom, events and cruises etc somewhere that I could hunt out if they are useful to the "organiser".

Like always, i'm happy to help in any way that I can, but I just don't have the time to organise it all on my own anymore - especially if its not somewhere "close to home".

i enjoyed the auck one, twas great to get away for a weekend and have some fun and put names to faces.

Unforunatly count me out for labour weekend, its my 21st :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: that weekend

I think the general lack of attendance, is because toyspeed is mainly composed of the following people:

People with no money; (That's probably 80% right there)

People with cars that dont go because they've pulled them apart, and they need their money to buy bits so they can put their cars back together;

People who have money, but are too busy doing cool projects;

People that dont have any money, because they hoard cars and or carparts; (You know who I'm talking about. :lol:)

People with awesome project cars that dont quite go yet, and they dont want to turn up to such events in their crappy daily driver;

People that are only interested in the technical side of things, not so interested in social aspects.

EDIT:

Late additions:

People that constantly complain that they have no money to spend on their car, yet constantly eat $$ fast food, go out boozing and partying all weekend, and have the latest Ipod/cellphone/new shoes/CDs/trendwhore accessories.

People that stir shit on the forums, and dont want to show their faces

People who post inane crap/incorrect tech info/bullshit on the forums, and dont want to get slapped for it.

And people who are just too cool for school :)

I dont really see a huge turnout for the mega meet because of the reasons RomanV pointed out. Its almost like we're getting too old for it and moving on :?

For me, it comes down to this:

Megameet, or Send my spare head to Kelfords for a cam grind? Or get a new exhaust system? Or another set of tires? Or some high compression pistons? etc. etc.

I definitely fall under the 'Too poor because I spend too much on my car that doesnt even go' category, and also under the 'Too poor because I hoard car/engine parts' category.

That doesnt mean that megameet doesnt sound entertaining, it sounds just as entertaining as a whole lot of other social activites that I turn down, because I need to hoard car parts. :P

P.S. I've added a few more TS stereotypes to the above list.

If there is one I'll probably go again this year. The one we had in Wellington the first time was $&#$% brilliant. I agree with Ellie though, would be good to have it somewhere else again where we haven't been yet to make things just a tad more interesting.

I'm the same as above though, spend all of my money on parts for the car that I sometimes don't even need. :lol:

I vote the Naki....

And they aren't hard to organise at all. You just need to pull finger now people and make your minds up where it's going to be and what date ... That way you will have time to book accommodation and find activities for the masses to do. It's about planning and forward thinking. Give the people plenty of time to save and organis their lives and you'll have a great event on your hands.

SOMEONE START A POLL WITH LOCATION AND DATE... Some make the first move!!!

only problem with this is that pretty much none of the locals stay with the visitors anyway, hows this different from going somewere random?
