Why are tri spokes uncool?

Postby no_8wire » Sun Jun 04, 2006 7:58 pm

It is all most universally accepted that tri spokes look gay.
So why do wheel suppliers still make them?
Why do you dislike/hate them?

I dont know...they just dont "look" right for some reason... :?

Your opinions please?

The Advan Tri's look alright, though some of the colours they come in are meh :?
Motorform Trispokes were possibly amongst the ugliest wheels ever made. Ever.

Trispokes are ghey because they arent as strong as wheels with more spokes.

ghey functionality = ghey form

My guess is that tri-spoke wheels leave too much of the wheel hub and brakes assembly visible - and most cars are "under-endowed" in that regard.

It's just wrong to see the rear brake-drum on a <insert low-spec car model>. It's like putting speedos on untanned white guy.

Maybe they'd look good on a Ferrari or Lambo.

So you're trying to say that speedos look good on some other guys?

Something you want to tell us pidge? :P

8O

For the sake of argument, an "untanned white guy wearing speedos" is one of those things that should definitely not be seen at a beach.

I still don't like tri-spokes. Or speedos.

I'd rather be observing the hotties (of the female persuasion, over the age of consent, trim, and around a "C" or so) in g-strings. Not that I get to the beach much - I'm one of those "untanned white guys" - thank god I don't have any speedos, or you'd really be in trouble :D

OK, how about this similie I was going to use instead, but I was worried about if the ladies on the board would be offended:

It's like putting a plunge neck dress on a "small-breasted ball-buster" - there's not much to show.

Now let me find my asbesto suit and earplugs. I expect it's going to get hot and noisy, and not in a good way...

I remember i used to like tri-spokes when i was about 10 at school..

i think it stemmed from the HSV's at the time that had the kinda tri shape mags..

yeah they look pretty rank tho

Togs togs togs, togs togs togs...

Undies. Undies undies undies.

Seriously, I think they look okay on the right car. There's a sacked out silver 300ZX down here in Chch, with black advan-type tri-spokes, I reckon it looks mean as!

the advan ones look good on some cars, but not many though
i just got some for drifting on, cos they are a good width and offset, but mainly just cos they were cheap

Seen a set of the advan Tri's on my mates zilla down in wellington. Didn't look so bad and he loved them.
Still to me they just 'look wrong' but on the zilla it wasn't so bad. The black and red alloys complimentated the dark purple nicely as well...

There's something disgustingly wrong with three spoke wheels, but i just can't put my finger on what exactly that is. Never been a fan of them and likely never will.

They just disturb the eye, I haven't seen a set yet that actually have an aesthetic pleasure about them. They are a disturbance in the force...
