drive belt...

Postby Gtz_xtc » Thu Jun 08, 2006 5:34 pm

At least thats what i think it is. its the belt attached to the altenator and runs the water pump and supercharger. does anyone know how to replace this belt? will the belt be widely available? anyone in the lower hutt or wellington area that is able to help it would be greatly apprieciated.

if it connects to the s/c and water pump, its not the alt.

belts on 4agze

1. : s/c > idler > crank > water pump > s/c
2. : alt > crank > idler > aircon > alt
3. : aircon > p/s > aircon

if its belt 1. you need to slacken the nut in the middle of the idler, then above the idler there is a bolt, loosen this and the idler will drop. put new belt on and tighten top first then nut in hte middle.

EDIT: to get this belt on/off you need to remove belt 2 also. same process tho

Belt is available through repco or brake n trans, both are in the hutt, they will be able to give the correct size belt by model number and engine code. Any mechanic can throw it on for you but if you get stuck pm me, im in the hutt.

You want a 5PK935, or a 965 if you have oversized crank pulley

do you know its the alt belt as you seem confused. take a pic maybe.

its all about the idler. thats how you tighten the belt, remember the belt runs underneath hte idler.
