Pay some attention to what fivebob and blackmk3 are telling you.
You can't vent an AFM'd engine to atmosphere without consequences.
The AFM measures the air as it enters the ensure and calculates the fuel mix accordingly. By letting the air escape after the AFM you're throwing the calculations off. The only way to do this successfully is to install an after market ECU with a MAP sensor. FYI the Gen III's run a MAP sensor stock which is why they can vent to atmosphere.
Your best bet is to remove the stock air box and fit a pod filter, preferable in a cold box. Along with helping the engine breathe better it increases the induction noise and lets some of the factory bov noise through.
Otherwise if you just like the noise just buy one of these.

It does work, i done it on 3 of my previous cars with no consequences and my friends 4AGTE who has the same thing had it on the hub dyno the other day with no problems at all.....
mr2matt wrote:As far as I know that is correct and you're unlikely to have any serious side effects by doing this but i would have expected this to hurt performance.
Here are the comnsequences that I was speaking of - sorry for not stating them earlier, I hadn't read all of the posts fully to see if they had been mentioned.
The running rich at gear change will cause the engine to drag pulling out of gear changes.
Closing the bypass valve forces the engine to breathe through the turbo compressor when off boost which is less than ideal
If you're not noticing these problems or the increased noise is worth it anyway then that's cool. I'd reccomend you look into getting an aftermarket filter too as this makes some great noises and does improve performance a bit.
