You dont need the body loom. The only thing that crosses over is the black-orange and black-white (which comes from the black-orange wire anyway) or the main power source for the engine. The other is STA and IIRC you need two B+ wires. All these can be taken from the 20V ecu. The only other thing is the fuel pump which comes off the ECU anyway. Body loom i.e. lights, indicators, wipers, etc are all the same because you still use the same instrument cluster.

Other than that its just sensor input and injector/ignition output. Pretty simple.

no... the whole dash is in the body loom. And resreve lights etc etc.

And power feeds for the hazards (don't ask...but they are in the body/engine loom connections somewhere). and horn. and inside lights.. its all the little things. It takes bloody forever.

And if you paying someone, like this guy is, then your going to be paying out the arse.

EDIT:

AND there seems to be different setups of ae101s... like mine (91) and loonie's (94) are WAAAAAAAAAY different (body looms and connections).

if all the advice from the people above hasn't put you off the best thing you could do is search the T&E, tardme and turners damaged auctions (plus insurance tender yards etc) for a written off GTZ complete so at least you will have all the parts.. then all you need is the space, the tools and the knowhow to swap everything over.

Personally... if your current car is security on a loan i would leave it the hell alone till you pay the loan off if it is still reliable. Pay the loan off then mod the car!

Yep they are all in the same loom but its easy to isolate the wires. Just intercept the plugs at the ECU and work from there. You can leave everything else standard. Sure they are in the same 'loom' but the engine circuit and 'body' circuit are pretty much independent.

Oh well I guess if hes paying someone to do it its going to cost a fortune what ever car he starts with. Im just trying to encourage him to attack it head on instead of paying someone to do it. Its the best way to learn. Sure it takes a while at first but thats just learning.

Seriously its so much more satisfying making something then buying something.
