<4a godly pistons extinction???>

Postby bluemaumau » Wed Jun 14, 2006 2:27 pm

well early today i was thinking about what i should do next to my car, as you do.

basically i decided that i will rebuild the engine, then it came to me.

as they last 4agzes were made in the ae101 era (91-94i think)

why does toyota still make the pistons?

or are they still making them?

and how long will they continue to make them for?

this is purely out of interest, just something buzy i thought of.

anywhoos discussion
:)

why not continue making them? people are still blowing the engines up and requiring new pistons and will continue doing so for probably another 10 years...

people will always needs parts, but i'd say the cost of a new engine would be rather steep, and so 2nd hand motors would be purchased instead, making producing new engines not worthwhile..

a guess

They'll stop making them when they decide its not viable to produce and store them, as well as the moulds.
You'd be amazed at what bits you can still get.

no offence dude, but i thought it was common sense that they will continue making parts for as long as they can continue selling them

in some cases, companys will even get parts made from scratch to suit, i know nissan would do this if they had enough orders of a particular part
