Hey I just thought of something that might not have been mentioned before...

If it is indeed held in the Naki. Do they sell 98 there? Because from what I've heard they are not very big on it and some of us won't run our cars on anything but.....

That would be a no. The last stop for 98 would be BP in Wanganui or Te Kuiti depending on which direction you are coming from.

We could always try to arrange a bulk buy of octane booster?

Or do what i do and bring some in a can, depending on how economical your engine is.

Or get someone with a Van or Ute and get a couple of 80L barrels filled with 98 before we go down so we can all just use that.... 8)
