4AGE 16v into 90' Corolla liftback AE92

Postby 1JZ » Wed Jun 14, 2006 11:27 pm

Hey all,

I have a 90' Corolla 5 door liftback, which i believe is a AE92 model. It currently has the 4A-FE carb engine. I am wanting to convert it to a 16valve 4AGE. I have the option to buy a 85' Corolla FX-GT, which has the 4AGE and manual in it. My questions are; Will the 4A-GE bolt straight into my AE92 with the factory 4A-FE engine mounts, or will the FX-GT engine mounts bolt into the AE92? How hard is the wiring to do?, i have heard the wiring loom will not connect straight up to the dash in my AE92, can anyone confirm this, or has anyone done this conversion and can let me know any tips when it comes to the wiring? As the AE-92 came with a carburated engine, and the 4A-GE is fuel injected, do i need to change the fuel pump/lines etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks

I'm parting out my FXGT AE92 - I can sell you the fuel tank and fuel lines - they should bolt straight into your car.
Wiring - shouldn't be too hard - the 4age looms can be sorted out with 3 or 4 wires that need to connect to your body loom.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

A series engine will bolt in and as a side note 4A-FE is injected.

If it were carbed then it would just be a 4A-F. The E means 'multi port fuel injection'.

He said in his first post its carb'd. It's a NZ-new liftback, probably an XL or GL model.

Yes but we already established that a 4A-FE can't be a carb'd engine. Either it'a a 4A-F carb, or a 4A-FE injected. Considering he asked if he needed to replace the fuel lines and tank going from carb to injected, I would safely bet that he has a 4A-F carbd engine, and that the 4A-FE was a typo or a mistake.
