Postby Caveman » Wed Jun 21, 2006 1:32 pm

Hi everyone, just thinking about the current trend on car clubs, they seem to be popping up everywhere.

Obviously theres hundreds more than I can think of so if its not on the list add it to the thread.

I see heaps of chosen few/cynosure/nzhondas stickered cars around auckland.

Hold on, but where in the list are the REAL car clubs? most of the listed stuff are just gangs of "boyracers", or online forums...

Most of those are real car clubs, maybe they are boy racers but if your part of an older mature club please list it 8) Your definition of a club might be different (maybe refering to motor sport instead of a car crew) but please dont steer the thread off topic.

Unfortunatly I cant modify the list so please no more off topic.

Hibiscus Coast Motorsport Club for all 27 years of my life
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976

Chosen Few is a very hypocrytical name for that club.

I think along the same lines as Sergei, a car club is one that doesn't sit around talking about cars, or blinging up cars, its about doing trackdays and whatnot.

My mechanic is an active member of the Auckland Car Club and has a big-ass Ford GT351 that he races. I went along with him to a trackday they were having and it was fantastic. Well thought out classes and heaps of really nice cars. I'd say it was the best day I've had at Puke yet.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I think chosen few are a pretty good club

They have frequent meets, good sponsorship and a pretty impressive line up of cars (bazdas gtz for example). Im sure they hold the occasional drag day too.

However it seems people are annoyed there are no motorsport so ive pmd a mod to see if he can change it. 8)
