Caldina GT-T Speaker Query

Hey,

Does anyone know what size speakers are in the front and rear doors of the Caldina GT-T, and what is the max depth for replacement speakers?

Also, are the tweaters that come standard in the front doors, are they replacable....?

i wouldnt know the exact size but the speakers are factory rivited in and has to have a custom speaker job done, and the tweaters can be changed too.
SNWTOY did one to his in some forums back and did a guide to how he did it

What it didnt mention (I think), is what is the max depth etc of the speakers that can fix (preferably without a spacer), and what is the diameter (again without a spacer).

Mounting depth of my speakers is 60mm, which was too much (spacer required). So you're looking at a maximum of 55mm with no spacer.

Diameter = 160mm = 6 1/4 inches. I'm think TWSTD said he needed a little massaging to make 6 1/2 inch fit. Spacer was not required for width.

So is the best size to fit with no spacer and no massaging, a 6" Speaker of approx 55mm depth max.
And do 6" and 6.5" speakers have the same mounting hole positions?

I would say 6 /14" (16cm) were the perfect diameter, and 50-55mm depth also perfect.

The mounting hole positions are pretty irrelevant as no matter what speakers you buy they're guaranteed to have different spacing to factory. Just drill small pilot holes and use some short self tappers. Easy.

What speakers did you install, and do you power them from an amp or a headunit.
Im wanting to get the best speakers I can, that sound the best, but only to run off my headunit. Its a 60W x 4, nominal power is 27W each channel.
Most speakers I have seen on trademe are about 65mm to 75mm mounting depth....

Mine are Pioneer TSC somethings.. model number in that thread with the pics of the install. They are not this year's model so you probably won't be able to find the same things.

They sound great just off hte head deck. I plan to amp them as they clip at high volume, but I've just got too many hobbies to afford it right now heh.

Just got offered:
Pioneer Components TSC1602 for the front
Sony Speakers XSGF1621 for the rear

Total $154 including freight to invercargill.

Now - are these speakers any good, or are they just tooooo cheap? All brand new with 12 month warranty.

Personally I would look at spending $150 minimum on the front speakers.
Powerbass components from parallel imported are probably the best for that money.

Don't bother replacing the rears unless they're really stuffed - they only need to provide a bit of fill. If needs be you could put the stock fronts in the back.

You're better off spending (for eg) $300 on fronts, and nothing on the rears, than $150 on each.

Yeah.
Was thinking even maybe possibly maybe getting a small amp to power the speakers off. Not interested in a sub or anything.

Was thinking maybe about getting a 2 channel amp, and powering the front speakers from it, and having the rear speakers powered from the head unit. Possibly even join the front and rear together, and running at 2 ohm.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone had anything to do with the Magneto branded stuff on trademe, that a guy called nzcaraudio sells. By the looks of his feedback, he has sold LOTS of them.

I dont want crap. I havent heard of this brand though, but looking at what people say about other 'known' brands, a branded items isnt always the way to go - unless you pay decent money.

If anyone knows anything about them, please post.

My rainbow slx 265 were around the $250 mark brand spanking, handmade in germany. Talk to dan if you want something decent. I wasted so much money buying cheep shit, then finialy brought a decent set up and am happy as larry

Got these quoted by a company in NZ.

Alpine SPS-171A Components - $190
Alpine SPS-170A Speakers - $90
Alpine MRV-F345 4/3/2 (75WRMSx4) 4ohm Amp - $450

or

If only going to do front with components, this amp.
Alpine MRP-T220 2/1 50WRMSx2 4ohm, 70WRMSx2 2ohm - $200 (found this on trademe for $169).

Or else I got offered a 4 channel 600W West Coast Customs (Orion) amp for $599 (ouch) and components for $299. Not sure on models. This is from a local company.

Anyone know about any of this gear?

The mounting depth is actually quite a lot.

Heaps of room behind the panel.

The factory ones are riveted in, but you just drill them out. Easy as.

As for the tweeters, they are screwed onto a mountin bracket, wich I screwed my new tweeters onto.

I fitted a set of Blaupunkt Velocity Compnents, mounted the crossovers behind the door cards.
