2E Carb conversion to Downdraft

Postby Maddog007 » Tue Jun 27, 2006 8:51 pm

Hi guys,

Ive got a EE80 with a 2E-E52 engine, Its got a ghastly SU type carb on it,that is over choking & fueling the poor old thing, Its just a hack so im not looking to do any engine swaps, but ive been told about swaping the carb for a Downdraft one off another toyota.
I called the wreckers & they know what im talkng about,& have the full carb, manifold, airfilter kit for about $200 +. :x

But they wouldnt elaberate as to what model toyota or engine they come off.
Do any of you guys know, or even better has anybody here done this already. ? Any pitfulls i need to know before i go ahead & do it.?
:D

could always get a suitable needle for the su. Ive never seen one on a toyota before. set up well, with slight mod's they can be a decent carb.
anyway...
do you have any pick a parts or similar around? $200 for an ee80 carb and manifold setup is a lil pricy imo. well under $100 from the wreckers.
Cant believe im still a member here.

They actually came out with a turbo ?
That would be fun,A real sleeper.
Defeats the purpose of buying a $500 ecconomical runabout though.

Dude, this is in Chch..

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 314296.htm

I was looking at this for my GF's 2E carb EP71, and putting all the turbo manifolds etc on her n/a 2E, but she won't let me, lol.. but even just buying it for the cool factory bodykit.. maybe I'll just steal her car, and have it back all modded by morning, lol.. !

Nah I dont think i want to go down that path,It will just end up being a project car, rather than a Hack. :(
You kmow ,you start with the turbo, then you want a I/C,then all the things that follow, etc.

ive got enough toys.

i believe the EE9# 1300cc Corrolla has the carb and manifold you are looking for. when i was working at a wrecker, that was the first thing to be removed.
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

f#@k you i won't do what ya tell me

BTW you have a 2E engine, not a 2E-E52. The E52 refers to something else, and has nothing to do with the engine. A 2E-E means its fuel injected, which it clearly isn't with the SU type carb.
