RIP my civic.

Postby Jazza » Fri Jul 07, 2006 8:43 pm

Well, as of today, at about 2 pm my civic was no more. Written off from some wanker who ran up the back of it. I was stationary, he was doing 70 in a 50 zone. Rear left wheel is shorn off, boot and rear bumper gone. Needa vent :P Pics up soon if anyone wants em

Yeouch. Hope the cops delt with him appropriately! Did he brake in the wet and lock up or something?
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Ok, now thats out of the way, we can continue on with a normal thread and keep it on topic!

Ok, basically what happened was.

Im on a main road - on the median strip indicating to turn right into my street. He is coming along on the left of me in his lane. Im waiting for oncoming traffic so i can make the turn. And he flies up the back of me. He was doing 70~ km/h he said, and i was stationary. Im fine, nothing major wrong with me. But my civic is another story... lol.

Theres a whole in the back of it big enough for me to crawl through

its good to know you're ok there buddy.
bummer about what happened ..

o.t but adamal, nice rant about how hondas suck, unfortunately there are a lot of hondas or civics that are faster than your 20V

but lets not turn this in to a honda hater thread or anything, I'd be interested to see the pics, that would be a pretty big impact and the honda would be f*cked!

insured?

That happened to me a few yeares ago.

Amazingly, also in a civic 8O

Guy was doing 70 in a 50, i was at a give way sign, he didnt even brake, no skid marks, just a huge bang, and a mega case of whiplash for me and my girlfriend.

The guy was in a brand new rav4.

Turns out this guy drive to CHCH and back from queenstown everyday, hes driven over 300,000 km's in the past year and a bit, has done 2 million km's in the past 10 years, and he was severly deprived of sleep.

He got convicted, the police saw it happen (outside police station hehe), but the guy was about 60 and was very very apologetic, and gave us phone calls every day to see if we were ok rarara, so wasnt so bad.

Anywhos....

Just as long as you're aware that theyll only pay out on what they valued the car at prior to the smack.

They tend to pay the lesser of either valuation-pre-accident or insured value.

Unfortunately i cant get em yet cos the insurance company towed it the next morning while i was asleep. So ill have to get them when they offer me it back (If they do). But imagine an EF civic, missing a rear left wheel, and back left of the boot.

*Edit* And when the hell were insurance companies ever that efficent huh!?
