Post by B1NZ »

I did'nt bother going to work this morning as the road was blocked by that stupid big slip, So i waited till 12pm, Took me 2hours to get from my house in Khandaalh, to my work in Petone, A trip that usually takes 10-15mins arrrgh!

Left work early and it took 20mins to get home, So i was at work today for a grand total of 2 hours lol

apparently its going to take 24-48 hours to clear 8O

I think it took Donna about an hour to get home from Lower Hutt to Johnsonville, but she left later than yourself this afternoon.

Apparently Wellington -> Petone is still a 2 + hour journey.

It took me around an hour to get home from Wellington to Whitby, the longest part of that trip was between porirua and whitby, as all the hutt traffic had been told to divert over the haywards.

Worst story, is one of my mother's was one of those told to divert.. she spent over 3 hours to get home to the hutt! 8O

Anyways, nice warm in front of the fire tonight, contemplating not going in tomorrow. Hope everyone else is too

We had vans going P'town/Haywards/Hutt or CBD to the Hutt direct to give an indication of the delays(killing jobs everywhere)and the last few days were a bit of a nightmare.

I spent Wednesday going mainly around town and got home at 5pm, totally avoiding the mess. Picked the mrs up from the train station at 6.20 then the phone rang. Datamail Porirua to Datamail Petone  . The job was booked at five to six and accordingly there was no "After hours" charge added to it

Traffic was backed up around the inlet from the first 80 kph sign and moving at a walking pace, the Haywards were only marginally better and the trip took 40 mins in the end. Today wasn't much better with fresh slippage seemingly everywhere you turn.

Petone to Porirua would usually take 20 minutes with no traffic, so 40 isnt _that_ bad.

I was fortunate to avoid the jams; I was in Auckland on business when the first slip happened... when the most recent one happened (Yesterday) I was in the CBD, I stalled my homeward trip untill 6pm and it was all sorted by then.

But yeah, does sorta illustrate how screwed we are when the only highway between the Hutt and the City gets closed, eh...
