How to connect dual voice dub200 sub?

Postby azl » Thu Jul 13, 2006 2:57 am

Hi guys, this sub (Dub200) has 8 connections. 4 of 2 postive & 2 negative connections on each side of the sub. I've got a 1200w Kenwood amp that is 2 channel (KACX621). I have connected all the 4 negative connections to negative on the amp, vice versa with postives. What does this connection mean? 2ohms or 8ohms? My amp runs at 4ohms stable. If I connected this wrong, how should I connect those cables so that I can get maximum performance out of amp and sub.

First off dont talk in bullshit power ie Max specs, your amp puts out 612WRMS @ 4 ohms bridged which is the lowest impedance you can go with that amp.

Im not quite understanding how your voice coil configuration works, how many voice coils has it got? What is their individual impedance?

sorry just read up on it, it can run at either 2 or 8 ohms and has duel 4 ohm coils. The amp isnt very well matched for this. You could either run it 1 voice coil per channel (not reccomended) or bridge it into 8 ohms

Hope that helps :)

Still don't quite understand that diagram.

Postby azl » Thu Jul 13, 2006 3:47 am

if my connections are simple as the one that "pyro_sniper2002" has talked about, it would be easy to wire up.

This image would be how I have wired up

Can someone please use this image below and edit it so that they can show me the correct way to wire this sub. Thanks a lot

Manual was lost

Thanks for your replies so late into the night. I'll double up everything tomorrow. What would happen if I had run it at 2ohms? Blow the amp?

when running the kacx621 at 2 ohms (as i found out  ) it will run ok but put huge drain on the battery and alternator, it will go for about 20 minutes, then over heat and turn itself off. over heating is not a good thing, especially since the overheat shut off in these amps is at around 108 degrees!!

I've wired the sub and amp now

Postby azl » Thu Jul 13, 2006 6:48 pm

I've made it into 8ohms, had exactly the wiring showing on the first diagram "pyro_sniper2002" had talked about. Now it runs very hard and loud, (maybe too much for me) lol. Thanks guys for your help.

Also put a box over that amp. Or the second you drive past someone, your car will be marked and it will be gone 3 days later.

The whole package should take 2 minutes to take out.

But since I've got alarm switches all round, I should get back to my car in time before they take off with it.

30 seconds to reach your car right?

25 seconds for them to pop the boot, laugh at your alarm, pull the sub (who cares about wiring) and to start running.

Seriously. The only way to stop them taking it is to make it not worth the effort. Showed ya what i did with mine, theres no way even I can steal it :P

what you do is bolt the bloody thing with 5mm thick alloy clamp to chassis using bolts with these heads:
Image
if I had really expensive stereo I would make a thick alloy plate with barrel locks to go over the top of stereo (which would bolt on to chassis as well with the bolts from above)... De-lock the car, security tints, high voltage sign warning that if someone breaks in get shocked, warning sign that breaking in the car is a serious risk to health.
Unfortenately we can't treat russian way the bloody thieves.. and assult is more seriuos crime then theft...
BTW in russia there are almost none of joyriders, only proffesional car theft, and when they break in and steal cars/stuff, they don't damage merchandise.

There was an article somewhere, how the wrong car got stolen (actually from wrong owner), when thiefs realised that they are in deep shit, they washed the car, returned to location where they stole it, and I think they left some money in it for compensation...

nono, you better off here trust me, I would rather get called "bloody foreigner", or "wite shit",put up with ugly chicks, get ass rammed in traffic, put up with politically correct people, did I mentioned ugly chicks? etc (typical NZ shit), than feel the blade inside of me in some dark alley just becuase I had good looking sneakers, or some one did not like the way I looked at him...

Compare to all (not that many but I get the picture) other countries I've been into, New Zealand is heaven. Very nice people. Very nice country. Don't have to walk on the streets with consealed chain ready to pull it out for selfdefence (saved me few times)...
