Does the engine check light come on when you rev over 2500? Could be a knock sensor problem

Sounds like the cam belt has jumped a couple of teeth. Check cam timing. If its the exhuast cam that has jumped this will also screw with your ignition timing.
The answer is Helmholtz!

Ive been and had a look at it and the cam timing is spot on.
To me it seems electrical, ignition timing is good as well.

It's a lack of fuel. You have sufficient fuel to feed the engine at idle, but not when you ask it to do more work. Check the fuel filter/fuel pump.

hey the fuel filter is brand new and the fuel pump is a standard one for the wagon. The leads are in good condition and the plugs are new also...

... so the fuel pump could be the problem? i have had problems with it before. It was only reading 0.4v!!! so a mate rewired the pump to the ignition.

conclusion being fuel pump? ... whilst ideling its all good and timimg is all good but once you blip the accelerator it almost dies... :? :? :?

Process of elimanation

Check injector pulse, are they still pulsing when it dies? If your check light is coming on it normally points to a faulty sensor or wiring to a sensor, It may be going into fail safe? you may need to bring up the fault codes and sort any problems there before going any further.

if ok then check your fuel pressure, I have a efi tester you can borrow tap in and make sure there isnt any problems there. If thats ok then all you can do is run a test plug on one of the leads and check for spark when it dies.

If you dont have any joy I can recommend a couple of good mobile sparkys we use that can come have a look and put you on the right track.

I'm going to stick with my opinion of lack of fuel. The fump may be faulty, or simply clogged. The fuel pump pickup tube on my MR2 kept getting blocked, and I had to remove and clean the fuel tank to stop it recurring.

I assume you haven't done something as simple as replacing the hollow bolt in the top of the efi fuel filter with a solid bolt  Don't laugh, I've seen that one before

Um, so why the hell are you treying to get it to go?

If the supercharger wont work, and the ABV shuts off when the supercharger is meant to come on,

How the hell is the engine going to get any air????

maybe......
but i have known ppl to unplug the charger and drive it home ok.....
but if all pipes are hooked up properly then the ABV will be open in that case.

i also know ppl who do away with the ABV and have no issues. so i dont think the s/c not turning is the issue.
enough air gets past the lobes to let the engine run.
