Work wheel valves - where to get?

Postby gmacrae » Mon Jul 17, 2006 5:49 pm

Hey people, after having the most frustrating conversation of my life with some punjab cu.nt at www.work-wheels.co.nz - i decided id drop in to TS to source the info i'm after.

My 18" Work alloys have stuffed valves, these valves are pretty tricky to get your hands on according to a few local people here. Where shoud i look for these oddball wheel valves?

Thanks guys, im >this< close to declaring war on india.

Contact Pete (THASHZ) he's the local wheel and tyre guy and should be able to help you or at least point you in the correct direction.

Are you having a problem with the valve stem seals being perished and leaking?
The Workones I sold last week needed new valve stems as someone had put rubber ones on! (see rant below).
I ended up going to a truck tyre place "firestone fleet service" (they go out in their little trucks and replace tyres on big trucks).
They sold me some shiney valvestems that were bent at the right angle!
I had to get some rubber gaskets cut for them as the rubber o rings weren't going to do the job on their own. total cost was about $40 for a set of 4 and $1 each for the rubber gaskets.
A set of valvestems from a mag wheel place was going to cost about $120 and they weren't quite the correct angle either!

The Work wheels had a problem with the valve stems...
they must have been leaking so the previous owner replaced them with rubber valve stems - the standard ones were bent about 60degree angle to poke out the front of the rim... rubber ones are straight and so you couldn't check the tyre pressures without taking the wheels off!!!!!!!!

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
