Importing a car from Japan

Was wondering if many people have done it before with ease of success. I found a few cars on the net, and i have a friend who can import it for me through a company, but was wondering how you get to see the car in japan, is there anyone on here in japan that can check it out? or do the import companies usually have somone that can look at it and take pics before buying it, like someone who lives in japan but works for the importers? cause i have found a fare few that im interested in, but doesnt supply many pics and the translation of the page from japanese into english is quite basic and some parets hard to understand, is it best just to ring the company or fax or wat are your views etc.?

It can be quite hard to find someone trustworthy in Japan to give you an honest opinion on a car. Iva heard lots or horror stories, and seen cars in person that were imported and turned out to be bombs, have previous accident damage or realy realy bad paintjobs.

Its hard to tell what cond a car is in just by looking at photos. Amazing what you can see in paint in the right light

Almost better off goin to a company that imports cars and let them import what you want, it'll be a bit more expensive than doing it yourself, but that way you can tell em to get stuffed if the car turns out to be shite, or not what you wanted.

My old man has imported 13 cars from Japan, and every single one has been as described, and there have never been any hassles.

I have heard to stay away from anything that has been REPAIRED. If it's an accident damaged car, then make sure it can be rolled onto the container otherwise they use forklifts to move it, and generally f**k them even more.

im going to japan on the 8th of next month to buy cars with a friend of mine... if your gunna buy an import direct, buy somthing thats a grade 4 or more... it will minimise the chance of you getting a bomb
