Bazda Vs. matt dunn??

Postby Paulio » Fri Jul 21, 2006 1:09 am

kinda interests me. (assuming the psi and hp down the strip)vBazda has the blacktop running about 25psi down the track with 440hp atw and gets a 12.9 and matt dunn has the silvertop running about 18psi with 280hp and gets a 12.39.

does that just prove that you're better off lightening your car than cranking the poundage up or what?

Not really a fair comparison, considering both the cars are totally different, and so are the tracks/dynos that they got their figures on.. Would be better to compare them side by side if at all really...

Yep Barry hasnt even run his car yet with the new setup

Would be expecting a fair bit lower than a 12.9 once he has it all sorted.

The 12.9 was done with the old setup and somewhere around 200kw at wheels

Not_paul_from_whangarei - have you got that new car of yours on the strip yet?

Previous owner talked it up a storm - would be good to see what it is capable of

if u read my profile right it says 4agte in the 12.9
new car is 7agte.
I will be expecting low 11s or even high 10s with some slicks.
I have similar kws to that integra in christchurch thats a road car and he ran a 10.94 so i'll be trying to match that :D

hey dude

no not yet, too busy putting a bit of money into it, pulling it down later on today to check the rings, bearings. fixing the suspension up a bit etc and other misc things, we don't have any dodge w.o.f stations down here so it wouldn't pass with the cutties and no cert.

once it's legal though i'll try get it on a dyno then a track and see what kind of power it has.

It doesnt matter what the rings and bearings are like,

as If you pull it apart you should not re-use old one anyway.
Plus once you have undone the rod bolts and head studs you throw them and the gasket away.

Makes it an expensive look even if there is nothing wrong.

Sorry for bringing up an old subject. Just that there was mentioning earlier about the 10 sec honda down south, then I remembered the locked thread on "turbo 4age vs turbo vtec". I then had a look over at the honda site....anyone read what theyve been saying? Seems like they think that 330wkw @ 27psi is a joke.
Why do honda motors seem to make a whole heap more power at the same boost???

seems simple to me , they run stupidly higher compression. an engine with 11:1 c/r will only need small amounts of boost to crank out some serious power ,but with a higher risk of something going wrong.
most of the 4age turbo conversions run as low as 8:1 , sacrificing response but also hopefully being more reliable.
ive seen in a magazine somewhere a ferrari that had been turbocharged with similar results, it only needed like 7psi to double the factory output :D
