Is there a way to get plastic headlights looking shiny and newish again?

Have tried regular car polish, and some cutting compound too. Made a small improvement, but still not really 'as new'...

Going nuts with cutting compound worked on my EE100, cant think of much else though.

Uusally cut and polish makes them bling.
I spent 15 minutes doing my R34's ones, came up crystal, and so did my mates Mirage headlights.

There is a chemical wash you can use, I had Braxton Cars Lights do it to mine. They did a very shit job and cost WAY too much.

Have you polished the lights with a polishing buffer,I`ve got a big commercial buffer,polishes lights up in no time, makes a mess with all the splatter tho.

i use brasso

saw a thing on mothers car show where they used cuttign compound and a powerball (mag wheel cleaner thing on the end of a drill) worked it in slowly then went nuts. then polished it with plastic protector stuff.

brasso is easier though :lol:

Yep used brasso on my levin after it failed a warrent for coludy headlights, The wof guy thought I had bought a new light.

Meguiars PlastX brought the Supra lights up nicely, except to get it perfect I'll have to do the insides too... There's an article on mkiv.com somewhere about doing it, they went hard though with wet-sanding etc...

jif is too coarse, it might remove the yellow layer, but it will endup with opaque light..
