TE71 rollcage -> ae86

Postby johntramp » Sun Jul 23, 2006 5:42 pm

Hey
Will a TE71 cage fit in an AE86. They are the same floor plan aren't they? If so, I imagine that it would as the ae86 roof will be higher if anything. Can anyone confirm this?
Cheers

get hold of Dave McCahon at SMS motorsports in CH-CH.
he has bent cages for both. would have thought the 86 might have more rake on the A pillar.

after talking to Dave on an unrelated matter, i can now confirm that he has 2 separate sets of dimensions for the two bodyshells.
However, he did suggest test fitting the main hoop and front legs to see if they are close enough to be suitable. without accessing the measurements, he could not advise me where the differences were,

Hey. Yeah, the front 2/3 or so fits perfectly, just the rear is a little too long to fit under the hatch. It shouldn't be too hard to modify tho.
