Is the 2E a contact head?

Postby Ae92typeX » Thu Jul 27, 2006 11:18 am

Short and sweet question. Is the 2E a contact engine. Have a mate with this beast with fairly high mileage. They dont have much spare cash, but cant afford the more costly option (of cambelt breaking) if it is contact.
Cheers

Yes they are, they bend valves and break rockers, even seen a head that also broke the camshaft caps.

You won't be doing much overtime though. I just replaced the cambelt on my 2E Corolla, and it took about 30 mins. No powersteer or a/c. Heaps of room to work in.
