seam welding

I have just been thinking of getting some seam welding done to the engine bay, while its being prepped for painting.

It may be some time before the rest of the car gets done.

Is there much point to getting the engine bay and front of the car seam welded? or is it one of those things that if you are going to do it, you need to do the whole car kinda thing?

You can do seam welding in stages, and if you are prepping for paint its the best time to do it. Remember though that to prevent warping you want to keep the breaks between welding reasonably long to let the metal cool down. It good to be able to switch side to side in the engine bay, or from front to rear. Also you want to leave gaps in the welds so that if you break one weld it doesn't break the whole seam.

spot or stich, welding in stages affects torsion stress you can crfack very easy specially in engine bay its where the vibrations are worse specially with fwd

as i understand most wrc cars have seem welds, depending on what your using your car for, is it for drag,track or is just a streeter as far as i know (i may be wrong), you seem weld for extra strength and torsion resistance on the chassie
