Makeing GT4 RWD

Postby TRIKI » Mon Jul 31, 2006 9:25 pm

How easy is it to make a ST185 rear wheel drive? Someone told me you just remove the front CV's or something and then you need to make something to stop oil from comeing out. Can anyone be more specific, and will doing it have and long term bad effects on the transmission?

If you want to drift a car buy a rwd, if you want to rally a car buy a 4wd and if you want to go supermarket shopping get fwd.. Aint that about how it works?

Seriously, why bother..

how many people own WRX's and EVO's that dont even see a gravel road? There doing it in japan theres at least one WRX in the D1GP and it does pretty good to. Do you rally your gt4 in competitions?

No cos im not going to put it at risk of damage, but im even less likely to drift it.

Why not get a wrx then..

Running them RWD generally cause the rear diff to go bang, its not really up to the job of taking all the power. Its only a T series after all. Based on other 4WD/RWD conversion and vague memories of reading abou this swap, you need to lock up the centre diff.

No they've got an opinion that differs to yours.

In many respects I'd agree that they are correct though, I can't see why you'd want to do that to a GT4 :?

You'll still get most of the transmission losses associated with a 4WD and lose all the advantages. If you want RWD 3S-GTE, buy an MR2, or turbo an Altezza.

You wont gain power. You wont gain torque...

BUT

Youll get plenty of wank factor

Its a stupid way to damage a perfectly good car. And if you want to drift, sell your GT4 and buy a supra

Go ahead and do it man.

Why is there a wrx in d1gp? cos its a car that has lots of parts available and someone was thoughtful enough to convert it to rwd and skid it with the best.

Sorry, I have no idea about how you do it, but i do know it invloves locking one diff and machining new axle studs to keep the oil in.

I cant beleive the cheek if some guys on here, its something different, and actually a very cheap and easy way of acheiving a common goal.

Good on you for getting over skylines.

My advice (as ive said MANY times before) is dont listen to the 90% of the tards on here who dont know anything, and just ring around.

Theres a guy on tard me who converts wrx boxes to rwd, ask him for his number and ring.

Luck man, awesome project

For the loosers dissing it, get something else to complain about

If you need to ask how to turn your GT4 into a driftah, then I don't think you're capable of the job.

How about a MA61 project?

where was his opinion? All he asked for was how to do it, not if he should do it, that its cool to do it, or that he cares what you think?

Dont get me wrong, i wouldnt do this project, and i do respect your opinion especially, under other circumstances. Yes I get a hardon about skidding, I love it, and who are you to judge my contrary opinion, especially when it wasnt asked for? think about it
