Yeah, as someone said previously - YouTube.com is your friend if you want to upload videos. :)

So did you drive the car to the track then (sorry if you already mentioned it, i just skimmed through this topic)? Hopefully you can get another car and get back on the track soon. :)

Ouch, Glad your ok,

So just out of interest who pays for what in race circumstances? Is it just you pay for your own cars reguardless of what happens? or would you maybe be liable for the FXGT, or he liable for your cAr?

Its you pay for damage done to your own car isnt it ? i.e. its just a racing incident.
stating the obvious but of course insurance dont apply, although I have seen people tell others to call their insurance company in cases like this

Ken, sorry to read of the incident. It unfortunately looks ugly. You must have taken him square on with quite a bit of speed. Still the front end crush may have taken some of the impact off you. Good to read you were alright.

It also looks as if you have a tonne of work to complete before next season. Wish I was up north to lend you a hand. Good luck.

Mental note, get a transporter for my rally car.

There are no rules on who pays for what on a racetrack. Generally accepted practice is that you pay for your own car, no matter what the circumstances.

I know the guy who I hit. I wandered over and had a chat afterwards to check he was OK. He said that he saw stars after the impact! I didn't, but I would love to know if I blinked as I hit him! Ha!
I've raced him a few times now and he is a clean driver - he said he went into the turn at the end of the straight a bit deep and lost the backend about mid corner. I was chasing a civic and I got a really good run off that corner and nearly hit him as he braked and swerved to (just) go behind the fxgt. By the time I worked out where the fxgt was the fxgt had rolled back about 1 car length which meant that I had no option except to slow down as much as I could.
Yeah racing damage you pay for yourself.
He said sorry - I said not to worry as I was certain that he didn't spin deliberately just so I could hit him.

I can still remember the sound it made... funny though, in the video soundtrack you can hear something almost sounding like a bell ringing, sort of a BONG sound. All I heard was about 100 things going crunch at the same time!

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

that looks like a good shunt, hopefully it will be back on the track again and i will be making a mental note not to spin out in front of you as i think you might have a thing about fxgts from now on.good luck with repairs.

The old carina did well there Ken, good to see you are AOK. Can't imagine a kp starlet staying in one piece after that... Engines & Spares down here has an AT141 hardtop coupe floating round at the moment, no idea if it is for sale though.

Oh crap man, the impact looks massive from in car. Always crap to see, unfortunately it's a racing incident, you simply had nowhere else to go, it came up so quick. Sorry to see :(

On to better things we hope!

Angry? No not at all. I was like "well that bonnet was pretty ugly and now I WILL have to replace it"
After the impact the first thing was "crap I'm in the middle of the track and the next bunch of cars are coming around the corner" so I stayed in the car until I knew they were going around me.
Then it was "hmmm, I wonder if it is going to burn" so I got out and ran off behind the nearest barrier. Almost as soon as I got there I saw the red flags waving (race stopped) so I went back to my car and helped get it off the track.
You can see how I nearly hit the Civic I had been chasing as he braked and swerved around the fxgt. I got a better and tighter exit from the corner so I was faster and more to the left than the civic so I ran out of options.
I worked out I hit the other car at about 40 to 50kph.

Maybe I should buy this trademe item...my own race team!
