Got any hookups for trade prices? How about getting some new short-stroke shocks? You should be able to match a set to your strut inserts' diameter and if you're lucky you'll be able to get the same body length but with shorter compressed length. If not you can use a hard plastic packer in the bottom of the case to make up the difference. The Monroe catalog has a good guide of shock dimensions.

Stocks shortened my daihatsu ones for $50 per corner. Thought that was a pretty sharp price.

Nup, just machine them down and move the thread further down the shock to keep your springs captive. Definately not worth paying $50 a corner for, new shocks can be picked up for around that much, and with new shocks you can find something to suit that is the proper length to keep them captive.

"As cheap as possible" $50 a shock isnt as cheap as possible, its what a retail company want to do it, it isnt a big job and is no where near worth that much to do. As Ive said, new shocks are roughly within $10 of the same price.

have you considered putting spacers in them?? a friend of mine has cut springs in her starlet and we put some suspension bushes in the shocks to stop them from coming right out to full extension...
