Trademe Response wrote:YOUR QUESTION:
How do you know it's got a BHG? Have you done any investigation into this? Have you been boosting it whilst it's been this way?

SELLER'S ANSWER:
NO 5 CYLINDER GONE

Sooooo......I take it he has been boosting it whilst only running on 5 Cylinders!?!?!? 8O

that is abit worrying.

i wonder if its something abit more serious than a bhg.
if the gasket was that bad, he would know for sure that the gasket was blown.
i would expect severe over pressurisation of coolant system and/or water mixing with oil

yes and no. BASED ON WHAT IVE READ, 80000 seems to be a good time to replace. yes they can last longer, but sometimes they dont... and the manner in which he replied to my first question annoyed me

within the first 100000kms yes, as the head bolts are torqued down to 54ft lbs and need to be closer to 80ft lbs, and thats not every 80000kms as you said.

sort it out right first time and you will be fine.

yes it is within 100000 but thats not every 80000kms. you made it sound like it needs to be done everytime you fill the gas tank

lol hardly. i said about every 80000 or so. which implies leeway. if i owned a 7M (which i may in a week or so) i would definitely start to get nervous before the 100000 mark on a factory gasket.

heh the mk3 gas tank is big, but not THAT big

"they should be done about every 80,000kms or so in the 7M's"

that sounds too much like
oil change should be done every 10000kms or so.

obviously thats not what you meant from what you have been saying in here, but thats how it came across on the trade me post.

if you get 7mgte talk to me and ill sort you out. 8)
