st205 suspension crunch time

Postby TRDmod » Fri Aug 04, 2006 11:46 am

I have gotten a quote,

1450 full adjustable, camber and height D2 racing stuff for my car
fully rebuildable

or

shock shop quoted 1000 to 1100 all fitted, for non adjustable kyb gas and oil combo, lowered racing spec but non adjustable.

i diont know what to get

i mean i hear mixed things with D2

and kyb or i think koni is a reputable brand but not adjustable

occasional track day, mokstly street driven

You would probaly get TRD shock and springs all round for that $$$, would be a very nice setup. Id take TRD over both of the above.

Bollocks you could!

Be wary of quotes on ST205s, you often find you have been quoted shocks for a fwd macpherson strut Celica, not superstrut.

yes

i am aware of that, tred ones are 3k for shocks and springs
nothing else

only a few do it for st205
not many at all
d2 is definately for super strut and the kyb are definately for super strut too

i am just afraid that kyb wont be hard enough for good handling
they said its definatley uprated but its hard to see wiht out putting it on

Are you 1000% sure? If this is the case they must be only just out. And just cos some seller on trademe says they are for SS doesnt mean they will be. I'd be seeing evidence before paying the cash

If it is true then you'd expect ae101/111 D2 adjustables for SS should be available soon too...

well, on the spec sheet, they definately have st205
it says st205
so i would take that on face value i guess

when i ask for D2 they said they dun have superstruct.

they might have it out now, but not sure

i m planing to get new factory super struct coil, TRD lower spring, c-one front rear strut brace with c-one front and rear lower arm.

i guess with that mod it will do the trick and it should be with in the 2K budget :D

not sure though of the stock shocks will do the trick
i mean does anyone here, have any experiences of just lowering the standard shocks, i mean if you take it to puke or taupo or extremely windy roads, i dont want it to bottom out or anything

I've got TRD springs with brand new factory shocks on my S/S levin and its great, the shocks work really well.

I've never had it bottom out, and I was more than happy with it around puke track.
