See pic of distributer and engine here:
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k188/ ... MG0244.jpgA local engine tuner told me to lock the mechanical advance and block of the vacum. Then timing to 24 degrees btdc as long as it will start and dosnt pink etc.
How does that sound should i do this???
Some people do it that way.
Usually the people who dont own computer and cant work a VCR or the remote for the TV.
Others do it properly.
24 deg is nowhere near enough. I run that at 20psi boost.
And at 34 degrees where it's close, i doubt it would start.
We do them at work all the time.
Do away with the vacuum advance.
Set up the dist so it run 13 degrees, which is 26 at the crank, and all advance in as low as possible by adjusting the springs, usually about 3300rpm.
Then set base timing at 6, 8 or 10 depending on comp fuel type of engine etc etc.
